Three Generations of Coaching and Overseas Connections

I’m the 3rd generation player and coach of a regional football team. My Grandfather, Father and I have all coached and played for the same regional club, something we are all incredibly proud of as a family.
 
I’ve grown up around overseas footballers my whole life. Many of the players my Grandfather signed for the club, lived in the Granny Flat connected to his house.
 
Players from Argentina, Chile, Fiji and Scotland not only lived on the same property as I did growing up, they were regulars at the weekly family dinner table.
 
The overseas players were always the best players, the captain or the coach and it just became normal to me to always see new players arriving each year.
 
In 2016, towards the end of my playing career, I was appointed player-coach of my club. It then became my job to scout the overseas players, negotiate terms with them and then facilitate their move to Australia. 
 
The one thing I have learned about these players, who all came from different backgrounds, is that their motivation was inspiring.
 
Football is every overseas player’s PASSION, but living in Australia was their DREAM.
What a lot of people don’t realise, is that you don’t actually need to be a big club in order to attract some of the most amazing players.
 
What players are looking for is stability, a place to live, assistance finding employment and FOOTBALL. With Australia, the greatest country in the world, as a backdrop.
 
Clubs, if you can provide this, then there will be players you never imagined signing for your club at your fingertips.
 
And Players, if you’re lucky enough to find a club willing to provide the above, then there’s every chance that your new Australian lifestyle will be a success.
 
ClubMatch is simply a continuation of something my club has already been doing for almost 50 years. Now there’s an online database of like-minded players your club can connect with.
